Peggy Ruhlin, Chief Executive Officer of Budros Ruhlin & Roe, Accepts the 2017 Alexandra Armstrong Lifetime Achievement Award

Peggy Ruhlin, Chief Executive Officer of Columbus-based Budros, Ruhlin & Roe, Inc., formally accepts InvestmentNews’ 2017 Alexandra Armstrong Lifetime Achievement Award during the Women to Watch Luncheon at the Pierre hotel in New York City. In addition to the luncheon, the day also featured a women’s think tank and reception that honored awardees.

The Alexandra Armstrong Award was established in 2015 and was named after Alexandra Armstrong, Chairwoman and Founder of Armstrong, Fleming & Moore, Inc. This annual award celebrates female pioneers in the field of financial planning. It recognizes women who have had long careers as advisors, a proven track record of leadership in the profession, and a demonstrated commitment to serve as a role model or to mentor other women. It also acknowledges women who have earned the admiration and respect of their peers. Peggy was announced as the award winner in the November 20, 2017 issue of InvestmentNews.

Peggy’s leadership and expertise have shaped not only Budros, Ruhlin & Roe but the financial planning industry as a whole. She has served as Chair and President of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) and was instrumental in its merger with the Institute of Certified Financial Planners to form the Financial Planning Association (FPA) in 2000. Under her leadership as Chief Executive Officer, Budros, Ruhlin & Roe was the 2011 Schwab Impact Awards® Best in Business award winner. Peggy has been awarded numerous honors including being named one of the “Best Advisers” in the U.S. by Worth Magazine, appearing on the cover of Barron’s featuring America’s top financial planners and being one of Financial Planning magazine’s “Movers & Shakers” who have contributed the most to the profession and are effectively shaping the future.

“Since I was announced as the winner, I’ve received numerous congratulatory notes from colleagues that I have worked with over the years. This is truly a career highlight for me,” said Ruhlin.

Peggy was accompanied at the luncheon by Chairman of the Board, Jim Budros; Chief Investment Officer, Dan Roe; Senior Wealth Manager, Aaron Armstrong; and her family.

“I was so happy to have so many of my family members, friends and colleagues attend the luncheon. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of women in the field of financial planning,” added Peggy.

The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Neither Forbes or SHOOK receive a fee in exchange for rankings.
